TALENTE – Meister der Zukunft 2022
Participants who had already been selected for 2021 but were unable to exhibit due to the cancellation of the Internationale Handwerksmesse were invited to the special show “TALENTEmünchen – Meister der Zukunft” 2022.
“TALENTEmünchen – Meister der Zukunft” presented innovative, imaginative, extraordinary and very different works in 2022, particularly in the fields of glass, ceramics, jewellery and textiles. These works also reflected the great interest in sustainability and alternative materials.
All in all, an interesting and diverse selection was created that demonstrated young designers’ engagement with contemporary, highly topical themes. The aim was to reflect on various contents, to design functional, aesthetically convincing objects for everyday use, to update traditions and to strive for greater sustainability and the considered use of materials.

Winners of the “TALENTE – Meister der Zukunft” prize 2022
Amelie Graf, Germany
Materials and technology
The jury emphasised the contemporary, relevant approach of Amelie Graf’s project. The examination of the topic of “packaging” is particularly topical. It was emphasised that the packaging is edible and nutritious, that it does not end up in a new, energy-intensive recycling cycle and the well-considered concept for offering and using the packaging.
Daniela Chodilová, Czech Republic
Wood/glass
Danielá Chodilová’s works convinced the jury with their deliberate and aesthetically successful combination of wood and glass. They are characterized by a certain humour, unusual references and liveliness. Fascinating is the transformation of the works through the chemical processes that take place in the glass, whereby controlled and random processes complement each other.
Aphra Cheesman, New Zealand / Australia
Jewellery
In Aphra Cheesman’s series of brooches and a pendant, the handling of different materials, the use of colour, the emphasis on the processual and the examination of the found objects were convincing. The interesting work with contrasts and the character of the unfinished was emphasised.
Pavlína Končická, Czech Republic
Jewellery
Pavlína Končická’s brooches are made from old tools. The trained blacksmith switched to jewellery without being unfaithful to her actual field. The impressive brooches, which are entirely determined by the silhouette and shape of the former metal tools, are of high technical virtuosity.
Annora Poppe, Netherlands
Jewellery
Annora Poppe’s necklace “Reflecting Landscape” plays with the illusion of heaviness, the impression of roughness and imperfection. The focus is on contrasting materials and processes. Processing by the human hand and by nature are compared with the native landscape. Furthermore, the design, for example in the shape of the purse, is inspired by elements of women’s costume from a specific Dutch region.
Tamar Dgani, Israel
Textile
What fascinated the jury about Tamar Dgani’s carpet was the contrast between soft fabric and hard metal and how these opposites are combined in the workmanship. The apparent simplicity and the use of the natural dye, the play with destruction and creation were emphasised. The carpet invites us to rethink the usual view of materials and to reflect on categories of value.
Justine Gaignault, France
Textile
The jury praised the combination of felt and jacquard techniques in Justine Gaignault’s blankets and carpets. The jury saw this combination of different techniques as a combination of tradition and modern technology. They also appreciated the tactile effect and the choice of colours.
Tim van der Loo and Sandra Nikoline Nielsen, Netherlands and Denmark / Germany
Textile
With the jeans project, the upcycling idea was particularly interesting: the type of production, the material cycle, the material processing. In addition, the aesthetically fascinating, convincing, subtle, attractive appearance was pointed out. The combination of the recycling approach with a deliberately chosen aesthetic design was emphasised.
Winner of the Bavarian State Prize 2022
Jonas Niedermann, Germany
Glass objects
As a glass designer, Jonas Niedermann has attended some of the best training centers in Europe and the USA. He received the Bavarian State Prize for three glass objects from the “Magnetics” series. In his works, the inner shapes attract glass particles, which hit the outside, shatter and leave molten glass molecules on their surface.
